Diamonds Thudufushi, a pioneering marine sustainability resort dedicated to preserving and protecting the delicate marine ecosystems that surrounds it. As part of their commitment to environmental stewardship, we are proud to announce the launch of our partnership and innovative coral restoration program. Through this initiative, we aim to revitalize and conserve the vibrant coral reefs that are integral to the Maldives' rich biodiversity.
In October 2023, Mars Sustainable Solutions trained their resident marine biologists in coral reef restoration, utilizing MARRS Reef Stars. As part of their training, 203 Reef Stars were installed, out planting over 3,000 coral fragments across their house reef to help mitigate beach erosion, revitalize marine biodiversity and create a thriving habitat for numerous marine species.
The training event also provided a meaningful opportunity for resort guests to participate and in turn begin to understand the importance of protecting our coral reefs.
Following a successful pilot installation that has seen a 99% coral survival rate, the Mars Sustainable Solutions will support the Diamonds Thudufushi team to undertake a 'big build' planned for October, 2024 to further enrich the marine ecosystem and safeguard the natural beauty of the Maldives for future generations.
