background
Established in 2010, NDRF is a non-profit organization with a vision to create multi-stakeholder discussion and action to conserve coral reefs globally, with a particular focus on the reefs surrounding Bali including Nusa Dua. NDRF focuses their work on three core areas: conservation, research and education programs.
In 2010 and 2016, coral reefs in Southern Bali were severely impacted by mass coral bleaching events with 55.4% of Nusa Dua coral reefs recorded as bleached in 2016. In response to this widespread damage, NDRF collaborated with local stakeholders to initiate a coral rehabilitation project. Mars Sustainable Solutions partnered with NDRF and introduced the MARRS method as part of their restoration program. Since then, over 6000 Reef Stars have been installed, out planting over 90,000 coral fragments!
